New findings and a little Majma Dance break.

It's been a couple of weeks and quite a lot has happened as always!
Firstly my Ebay test didn't go to plan and my lovely comb didn't sell although it did get some watchers. So I think I'll stick to my steady stream of word of mouth/event tactics.
I had a little break from making wedding accessories and jewellery last week and decided to make some costume jewellery earrings. Recently it seems that antique brass and black gunmetal have become quite popular so I ordered some new goodies and made the costume earrings below using black gunmetal findings.



So I had a long weekend off and went to the spiritual den of Glastonbury for 3 nights with some of my close girl friends. We attended the Majma Dance Festival which is an annual event held by bellydancer Raheesha and the Desert Divas. It is a great place to learn some new dancing skills as they hold all sorts of workshops over the weekend. I tried Zambra, Tribal and Rajastan Gypsie dancing to name a few.I also drank rather a lot of wine so climbing the Tor Monday morning was quite painful!

Having a break always sets your creative juices going again so I am back and have lots of ideas. So many I had to draw a spider diagram to get my head straight! Glass club always adds in more ideas. Last night I was trying to do an implosion pendant - (You Tube it they look awesome!) and also remembered that I get my new kiln next week! How exciting! In light of my new arrival I ordered some yummy fusing glass today, Warm Glass have a 30% off sale so it would have been rude not to. So watch out for even wackier creations :)
So it is almost the weekend again and I'm going to have dinner with friends then crack on with some lovely comissions I have to make. Have a lovely weekend and lets hope the sun shines - I need to get and tidy the garden a bit as well! E x

Testing Testing.....

I had a great day at the Guildhall Wedding Fayre and look forward to lots of cups of tea and creation chats with the lovely brides to be!
So this week I have had lots of chats about ways to sell. I'm by no means an expert but feel face to face and word of mouth seem to work best for me. I currently have shops with Etsy and Folksy 2 handmade selling spaces. There has been a lot of talk about Ebay but as competition is fierce I've stayed clear. This week though I thought I'd do a little test and have listed a gold Elfin Vine comb (pictured above)

So hopefully this weekend I'll finish the new bridal necklace I'm working on and some torch time to have a go at making my friends some of the popular Pandora style beads.

Fasinating Fascinator and Super Sparkle Swirl Tiara!

So I took myself out of my comfort zone this week and set myself 2 challenges. To finish my elaborate sparkly tiara that measures 4 inches at it's highest point and figure out the wonder of the birdcage veil.
I'm pretty happy with the results. Below we have my Ivory top hat fascinator in which I have incorporated birdcage veiling.

Crystal Swirl Tiara as you can imagine took a while to make but it is quite a stunner!

This weekend I have the Portsmouth Guildhall Wedding Fayre to look forward to and hopefully some time to get on the torch and make some beads as picked up some new glass yesterday at Faborto Glass http://faborto.com. Have a lovely weekend! x

What a week? Karma hasn't been on my side that's for sure!

Well it hasn't all been bad this week but you know when lots of little things happen that you could really do without. It was one of those weeks.
So the first photo below is of some of my latest fused glass makes - they were mostly testing new ideas so it was a mixed bag of yipee that worked and oh dear that really didn't!

You have to laugh I got a day of sunshine, set up outside with the new Arabella Gothic Tiara and my camera died, nooooo! Then the next day, camara fully charged well it was pissing it down. So the photos are taken inside but have come out surprisingly well.


No sign of my Siam Swarovski's yet but I have been working on an elaborate swirly princess tiara design which I hope to finish at the weekend.
So tonight I will be having a large glass of wine to toast the end of a week where Karma hasn't been on my side - house mice, broken fridge, dripping shower, ex and no creative mojo. Hopefully the romance of Valentines will help resolve my empty purse.

February = Red for Valentines

Thank you to all those that attended the Solent Hotel Wedding Fayre. I spoke to soo many lovely ladies, their friends and family it was great.

I ran a prize draw and the lucky winner was Claire Brown so I'm looking forward to creating a beautiful tiara to Claire's specifications.

I've been quite lucky as I've had a few days breather while I wait for my new orders of beads and bits to arrive. I had a well needed clean session in my flat and managed to get 2 charity bags worth of unwanted items bagged up. I made a visit to 1 of my favourite shops the Boarhunt Flower Mill and bought a basket of new goodies as they had a half price sale on, so expect some rather exquisite head wear ready for the Spring/Summer wedding season.

I had a really chilled day on Sunday and took a walk around Farlington Marshes with my friend.

This week I went and saw The Black Swan - interesting film and not for the squemish. Her Swan head wear has left me inspired to create a 2 sided feather fascinator but I haven't quite worked out how I'm doing it yet.....huuummm.

So February = Valentines so red is the colour of the month. I made a tiara with a selection of red glass beads and black wire. I'm really pleased with the outcome and it's sunny today so a clear picture will follow soon! I'm waiting for more Siam Swarovski's to arrive so I can create a Valentine tiara......watch this space!

Wedding Fayre and New Cufflinks.

As promised I took some photos of the newly arrived boxes. I'm really pleased and think they look great with the bright pink tissue paper.

So this weekend is my first big wedding event of the year at The Solent Hotel in Fareham, Hampshire. If your in the area pop along - there will be over 50 exhibitors including Elisa Loves.

I'm really excited and a little bit nervous, I've got some lovely new stock and look forward to speaking to lots of brides to be.

Tomorrow to keep me from checking my lists and for a well deserved day off I'm going to a wine tasting day. I have never been to one before so am not quite sure what to expect but I won't be spitting out any wine! Have a great weekend, E x

January Whirlwind!

So after booking the Wedding Fayres in the 1st week of January I had to get into organisation mode.

I wasn't happy with the tiara boxes I was using so spent hours searching for new and improved alternatives. My delivery of 30 boxes arrived and I can't wait to get some tissue paper to perfect them and I'll picture next week. They are hexagonal black and white striped hat boxes made smaller to suit tiaras and large fascinators. So that is one tick off the list!

Also I have been designing some new earrings which I have pictured below.

These are all £15.00 a pair and made with sterling silver components.

In amongst my creativity I went to visit a friend in London and got to try out the newest craze pedicure where you have live fish nibbling your feet. Now I have super tickly feet and so relaxing it was not, I had to work hard to keep my feet in the water but I have to say my feet did feel a lot smoother and softer. I would recommend trying it just for the experience.

Now I mentioned before that I was going to be making some new cufflinks well I can say 6 new pairs are firing in my friends kiln as I write this! So can't wait to see how they turn out on Monday. I'm in the Making Space Studio Saturday so might make some more but think I might do some wacky jewellery......huuummmm where is my sketch book!
